Discover Eden Springs Wines

Eden Springs is a vineyard and small winery tucked away in a magic location called High Eden. Although grapegrowing began on the property in 1972, it was only in 2000 that wines bearing the Eden Springs label were released commercially.

The vineyard grows Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, and it is the best of these grapes that make the premium Eden Springs single-vintage varietals which carry the High Eden label. Click on the left for tasting notes on current releases.

As a small winery well off the beaten track, Eden Springs is not open to the general public. We do not have a cellar-door sales facility as such, but this website offers you a "virtual cellar door". Convenient and time-saving, you can buy premium wine on-line, with absolute security in a credit card transaction. As an added bonus for sharing the convenience of sales via the world wide web, all oneline orders receive a discount of 10% of the total order price.

Tastings and sales are also available at Taste Eden Valley, 32A Murray Street, Angaston 5353.

What's so special about High Eden Wines?

In grapegrowing terms High Eden is a unique area. It is a sub-region of Eden Valley, which in turn is a region in the Barossa Zone on the Australian wine map.

As part of the continuing process to clearly define Australia's wine-producing districts, High Eden was gazetted late in 1999. This gave High Eden its own identity on the world wine stage. Only a handful of other wine companies have vineyards in High Eden, so wines bearing this address will always be rare.

High Eden is a roughly oval-shaped area of less than 40 square kilometres, sitting about 500 metres above sea level on the western rim of Eden Valley. Many regard it as one of Australia's most beautiful wine districts, its contoured vineyards clinging to rugged hillsides dotted with massive rock outcrops and huge gum trees while dams dot the valleys. It is tranquil and sparsely populated, and home to a wonderful variety of birds and wildlife.

The vines of High Eden are generally low-yielding due to the harsh, high-altitude climate and relatively poor soils. The long, cool ripening period means quality makes up for the lack of quantity, however, and the wines of High Eden command attention.

Eden Springs’ estate grown wines are classic examples of the High Eden style. We hope you try them soon, and discover the fascinating nuances of these rare and complex varietals.
